Meet The Teacher - Miss Bullen
Miss Bullen is passionate about creating a warm, engaging, and stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to learn. She is also passionate about outdoor education and loves to take our learning outside wherever possible! Her favourite subject to teach is phonics, as it is incredible to see pupils' confidence grow with the development of these life-changing reading and writing skills!
Timetable & Routines
Morning Drop-Off:
- Children are welcome in school from 8:45 a.m. each day to complete an early morning task in the classroom.
- Parents should drop off their children at the classroom door, where a staff member will meet them.
- Registration is at 9:00 a.m.
End of School Day:
- The school day finishes at 3:15 p.m.
- Children will be brought to the playground for collection at 3:15 p.m.
- Please do not collect directly from the classroom to avoid congestion on the path.
Collection by Others:
- If your child is being collected by someone other than yourself, please inform the class teacher.
- You can also relay messages to the school office via phone or email.

Equipment
Water Bottles:
- Children must bring a named water bottle to school daily to stay hydrated.
- Please note that squash is only allowed at lunchtime.
Milk:
- Milk is provided to children on the milk list (parents must sign up via Cool Milk).
- Once children turn five, they are no longer eligible for free milk unless parents choose to pay for it.
Snacks:
- The school provides snacks, so children do not need to bring their own.
PE Days:
- Our class PE day is TO BE CONFIRMED.
- On PE days, children should come to school dressed in their PE kit and school jumper/cardigan.
Book Bags:
- Please ensure book bags are brought to school every day.
Spare Clothes:
- If your child is prone to accidents, please provide a spare set of clothes to keep on their peg.
- While we have some spare clothes available, our supplies are limited.

Homework
Homework:
- Formal homework tasks will not be set for Reception children until the summer term.
Reading Expectations:
- Children are expected to read 5 times each week for at least 10 minutes.
- School reading scheme books will be sent home on Monday and collected on Friday. These books must be returned on Friday as they are needed for other children.
- It is important that your child reads the book provided by the school to support their decoding, prosody, and comprehension skills.
- Reading for pleasure is also encouraged. Children are welcome to read other books of their choosing.
Library Books:
- To support reading for pleasure, children will have the opportunity to borrow a book from our school library.
- Class 1’s library day is TO BE CONFIRMED.
Recording Reading:
- Please record home reading in the home/school reading record book.

100 Club
Membership:
- All children at Ilchester Community Primary School are eligible to join the 100 Club.
How to Join:
- Your child needs to read or be read to 100 times outside their regular school reading time.
- They can read any type of book: library books, school books, or home books.
Recording Reads:
- After each reading session, please sign the 100 Club record chart in front of your child’s reading record.
Rewards:
- 25 Reads: Bronze badge
- 50 Reads: Silver badge
- 75 Reads: Gold badge
- 100 Reads: 100 Club badge and the opportunity to select a book from the 100 Club basket as a prize.
Multiple Memberships:
- Children can join the 100 Club multiple times, earning badges and prizes each time they complete 100 reads.
