Gifted and Talented

At Ilchester Community Primary School, we are committed to nurturing the unique abilities and talents of all our students, including those identified as gifted and talented. Our Gifted and Talented (G&T) program is designed to provide these students with the opportunities and challenges they need to thrive academically, creatively, and socially. The purpose of our G&T program is to:

  1. Challenge and Extend Learning: Offer differentiated instruction and advanced learning opportunities to ensure that gifted and talented students are continually challenged and engaged.
  2. Foster Individual Talents: Provide specialised programs and activities that cater to the specific strengths and interests of each student, whether in academics, arts, sports, or other areas.
  3. Encourage Critical Thinking: Promote higher-order thinking skills through problem-solving tasks, independent projects, and inquiry-based learning.
  4. Support Social and Emotional Needs: Address the unique social and emotional needs of gifted and talented students, helping them develop resilience, self-awareness, and positive peer relationships.
  5. Engage Families: Collaborate with parents and guardians to support their child’s development and provide resources to help nurture their talents at home.
