Our School Values

Six core values guide everything we do at Ilchester Community Primary. These values are the foundation of our school culture and help shape our students into well-rounded, compassionate, and motivated individuals.

Belief

We believe in the potential of every student. Our school community nurtures confidence and self-esteem, encouraging each child to believe in their abilities and strive for their best. We support our students in setting and achieving personal goals, fostering a growth mindset that will serve them well throughout their lives.  Gerald from ‘Giraffes can’t Dance’ by Giles Andrae and Emma Raducanu.

Equity

Equity is central to our mission. We are committed to providing an inclusive environment where every child can access the same opportunities, resources, and support. We celebrate diversity and ensure that all students feel valued and respected, promoting a sense of belonging and fairness within our school.  The Witch from ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson and Marcus Rashford.

Curiosity

Curiosity drives our approach to learning. We encourage our students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and inspire students to investigate the world around them, fostering a spirit of enquiry and discovery. Izzy Gizmo from ‘Izzy Gizmo’ by Pip Jones and David Attenborough

Kindness

Kindness is at the heart of our community. We teach our students the importance of empathy, compassion, and understanding. Through acts of kindness, both big and small, we create a supportive and caring environment where everyone feels valued and respected.  The Boy from ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers and The Dalai Lama

Bravery

Bravery empowers our students to take risks and face challenges with courage. We encourage our students to step out of their comfort zones, try new things, and learn from their experiences. We help our students build resilience and confidence to overcome obstacles by fostering bravery.  Beegu from ‘Beegu’ by Alexis Deacon and Tony Hudgell.

Aspiration

Aspiration drives our students to reach for the stars. We inspire our students to set high aspirations and work diligently towards achieving their dreams. Through aspiration, we cultivate a sense of purpose and determination, motivating our students to excel academically, personally, and socially. The Girl from 'Maybe' by Kobi Yamada and Yusra Mardini.

These values create a nurturing and dynamic learning environment where every child can thrive. We are proud of our school community and the values that guide us, and we are committed to helping our students grow into compassionate, curious, and ambitious individuals.

Welcome to a school where values matter.
