SEND

Mrs Louise King is the SENDCo for Ilchester Community Primary School. Please speak with your child's class teacher first about your child's additional needs, and they will then refer your concerns to Mrs King accordingly.

Ilchester Community Primary School is an inclusive school where all pupils are supported. All Somerset-maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.

If you would like this information in a different format, such as braille or large print, or if you need help with interpretation in a different language, please contact the school.

Somerset Graduated Response Tool

Quality first teaching underpins all educational provisions.  It focuses on inclusive practice and breaks down barriers to learning.  For most children, this can be achieved by identifying specific obstacles, followed by personalisation and differentiation using strategies as determined in the Somerset Graduated Response Tool.  The Somerset Graduated Response Tool breaks SEN into four broad areas of need.  This targets specific support for teachers to plan and for any interventions to take place.
