Headteacher’s Welcome

‘Child centred learning in the heart of the community’

As our vision states, everything at Ilchester Community Primary School is for, with and about our children and they remain central to all that we do.

Ilchester is a larger than average primary school serving the communities of Ilchester, Yeovilton and Limington. We have capacity for 329 children from Reception to year 6. We are also fortunate to have our own Early Years Department (pre-school) on site which can take children from the age of 2.

We are proud to serve our community and aim to instil a sense of belonging in all our pupils. We provide our children with a strong primary education, ensuring they are ready for each new stage of their learning. Our values of Belief, Bravery, Equity, Curiosity, Aspiration and Kindness ensure our children understand the intrinsic value of being a good person alongside cultivating a lifelong love of learning.

‘Pupils live the Ilchester values. They show ‘bravery and curiosity’ in their learning and ‘kindness and equity’ towards their friends. They develop belief in themselves and in others’(Ofsted May 2022)

I am proud to lead a team of dedicated and highly skilled staff who are committed to providing a stimulating and dynamic education that focuses on developing the whole child. We pride ourselves in recognising and valuing every child as a unique individual and have high expectations for all our children.

We believe that parents are paramount to the education of their child and work hard to develop positive relationships with our families which are based on mutual respect and trust. We work in partnership with parents and family members to ensure the very best outcomes for the children. We welcome parental involvement in all we do.

We have a supportive, hard-working Governing Body who work together with the staff team to provide our pupils with the very best learning and enrichment opportunities.

We warmly welcome prospective parents and families to our very special school to meet our wonderful children and staff.
