BASKETBALL 28/2/17  6 children took part in a basketball competition at Yeovil College and played 6 teams in short timed matches. They played well against some stronger teams and improved their passing skills, winning at least 1 game, drawing 1 and finishing very close in other games.  Great effort and well done to William, Tom, Charlie P, Rebecca, Heather and Ethan.

CROSS COUNTRY AT ALDON HILL 1/3/17  The hilly 2nd course at Aldon hill proved to be very challenging but another courageous effort from all our runners was evident in never giving up!  Well done to all including:

FOOTBALL FRIENDLY AT BIRCHFIELD 21/3/17  A team of Year 6 boys played a friendly match against Birchfield and played very well with excellent passing and scoring on a heavy pitch and in rainy conditions. It was played in good spirit with Ilchester winning very well, 7-2.  Excellent skills and teamwork from Ollie, James, Nathan, William, Ronan, Jacob and Tom.

Our home match against St Gilda’s was cancelled unfortunately, due to the pitch being very heavy and slippery after much rain that week!

GIFTED AND TALENTED SPORTS FESTIVAL – 24/3/17  William, Simeon, Brooke and Marina represented our Year 5’s at the festival at Bucklers Mead Academy, taking part in a variety of sporting challenges.  This included blind football, rugby skills, wheelchair basketball, tri-golf, tennis and cross country.  Simeon achieved a gold medal for Rugby and a Bronze medal for Tri-golf. Brooke also received a bronze medal for her efforts in tennis!  Overall as a team, they showed great teamwork and application to new challenges and came 5th out of 13 schools.  A super effort.

CROSS COUNTRY – AREA CHAMPIONSHIPS 29/3/17  A busy end of term meant a reduced team for our younger children in the Area Championships at Yeovil Rec; thank you to those who took part and ran their very best as always! It was also very heartening to see more girls in our Year 5/6 team for the last race, showing great teamwork and support for each other.  The Year 5/6 boys continued their excellent form, finishing 2nd overall in the team scores!  More than 400 children from over 20 schools took part.

Year 3/4 Girls – Evelyn 67th

Year 3/4 Boys – Freddie 72nd, Jasper 140th

Year 5/6 Girls – Rebecca 20th, Amber 31st, Hannah 48th, Olivia 53rd, Shannon 54th, Amelia 58th, Jessie 59th, Kiara 60th

Team score (first 4 runners) = 150pts – 7th overall

Team score = 52 points 2nd overall, winning a silver medal each!

Congratulations to everyone and especially the children who have been able to run each race this season, supported by parents in all weather. Thank you to all.

Our thanks to members of staff who assisted with the marshalling and race results at this event, adding to the support and encouragement for our children!

A final thank you goes to Mr Adam Hawkins and his team from Yeovil Town Running Club who organise each of the races.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ollie, Charlie and Will who were selected to run for Yeovil in the Inter-Area Cross country at Millfield on Tuesday 25th April.  Good luck boys!
