Cross Country

We have had a very enthusiastic response from all our runners in the first 3 races of the season. It has been very heartening to see up to 35 children taking part, proudly wearing the Ilchester vest!

The first race was at Yeovil Rugby Club on a heavy, grassy course and over 400 children took part from at least 23 different schools in the Yeovil area!

Our team results were:

Year 3/4 Girls – 12th

Year 3/4 Boys – 10th

Year 5/6 Girls – 3rd

Year 5/6 Boys – 6th.

Race 2 was at Yeovil Town FC, around the training pitches on a very fast course.  Again, an excellent achievement and effort from all our runners.

Yeovil Town Team Results:

Year 3/4 Girls – 10th

Year 3/4 Boys – 8th

Year 5/6 Girls – 6th

Year 5/6 Boys – 5th

The final race of this term before fading light was at Aldon Hill on a bright, and dry autumnal evening.  This time the children had the woods and “hill” to contend with in the final run towards the finish! Courageous and supportive of each other once again, it was brilliant to see.

Aldon Hill team results:

Year 3/4 Girls – 3 runners only

Year 3/4 Boys – 7th

Year 5/6 Girls – 6th

Year 5/6 Boys -5th

Some excellent individual results from Erin, Carmen, Sonny, Elle-Sky, Ceira, Hayden, Matthew, and Will achieving top 10-20th placings in some of the races.

So many children are already showing improvement, determined to beat their previous score and improve the team score as well. Congratulations to all!

Club sessions continue after school on Wednesdays so please attend to keep improving even more!  More league races next term once the daylight stretches out more.  Race 4 – Wednesday 31st January 2018!

Thank you to parents for your continedsupport and marshalling.

Netball

The first tournament at Westfield Academy was a quick introduction for our players and they coped well with the High 5 rules and changes, having to be adaptable to change positions and zones!  Lots of skill and good passing meant they had competitive games against 3 schools, achieving

1 draw, and losing only 1-0 and 4-0 respectively to more experienced teams.  Well done to Marina, Kalli, Simeon, Caitlin, Aria, Mark, and Ceira.

In the second tournament Ilchester played against 2 schools and again displayed some good teamwork and improvement. However, we were not strong enough to defeat the opposition but a great effort by all who played, including Terry, Marina, Mark, Kalli ,Caitlin and Ceira.

Football Tournament U11 Kids Cup

Eight of our Year 6 boys participated in this tournament hosted by Yeovil Town Community Trust at Bucklers Mead Academy. We played each team twice in our group to determine which teams would qualify for the finals. Ilchester posted 1 win, 4 draws and 3 losses, and got so close!

Excellent goal-scoring from Noah, superb goal-keeping by Mewen, and very determined and skilful play from Hayden, James, Will, Mark, Jack and Tyler who never gave up. Well done boys!

Girls Football Tournament

Our girls team gathered at Westfield Academy to play the first of two round robin tournaments. After a rather nervous first game, the girls really gelled and got hungry for the ball, taking more opportunities to pass and get to a position of scoring. They played 4 short matches and showed brilliant enthusiasm and teamwork, especially when they had not yet played together. A great effort from Brooke, Annie, Ceira, Caitlin, Marina, Nellie, Isabel and Elle-Sky.
