Class 10 Topic Experiments

Today, Class 10 started their new Topic. Rather than just tell them what we’re going to be learning, we conducted a number of experiments that were all linked – in some way – to what we will be learning this term.

At the end of the lesson the children were able to work out what our new Topic is going to be. Can you?

Veggie oil, red water and salt produce a homemade lava lamp!
An unseen force pushes through a crack in the earth!

Exploring flexible building materials to withstand a good, solid shaking.
A sudden rumbling, roiling reaction bursts forth!
How do different supportive structures affect the stability of buildings?

A lot of excited experimenting and discussion later, the children deduced that we’re probably going to be learning about… volcanoes and earthquakes!
