The Christmas holidays are finally here and all the children in Class 10 have worked brilliantly all term; thoroughly earning a nice, long break. Below please find a selection of photos from some of the highlights of this term.
We all really enjoyed our trip to take part in the Cool Aeronautics workshops at the Fleet Air Arm Museum where we got to learn all about some of the helicopters used at the base and then made our own parachutes and catapults in engineering competitions.
When it was time for the Christmas Fayre, the entire class worked brilliantly in teams to think up, design, build and run their own game stalls for the evening. In doing so, they raised over £150 for the school!
The culmination of our learning throughout the school about the First World War was our Tea Dance party with members of our local community. The afternoon was ably introduced by Karen and Adam and our Class 10 war poems were written by Madison, Tia and Ashley.
Towards the end of the term, we investigated the properties of light and shadow; coming up with our own experiments to see how various factors affected the casting of a shadow.
All of which brings us to our final, festive week of the Autumn term. On Tuesday we joined Class 5 for an afternoon of games and play, where all our children were wonderfully supportive and caring of their little friends whilst teaching them new games.
Then, today, we had the privilege of joining the RNAS Yeovilton Carol Service where the children joined service men and women in a number of carols and performed by themselves a lovely rendition of Calypso Carol for the other attendees. Afterwards there were well-deserved mince pies and biscuits for all.
And what festive week would be complete without a visit from Santa delivering some fine presents before he begins the Christmas rush in earnest?
A massive thank you to all the children (and families at home!) for their dedication, kindness and generosity this term. I hope everyone has a fantastic break and I look forward to seeing you all again in the new year!
