Aboriginal workshops

This term got off to a great start with a day of Aboriginal workshops to enrich our Australian topic.  We spent the first session with Steve looking at and learning about some of the animals from Australia.  After that we had our storytelling session and drama. Aboriginal stories have been told through generations for thousands of years.  Many explain how gthings came to be or have a moral lesson.  We heard 2 stories.  One was about the whale and his canoe that explains how the Great Barrier Reef came to be and one about how kangaroo came to hop on 2 legs.  Some children even got to have a go with some music and try to play the didgeridoo!  The day was rounded off with an afternoon of Aboriginal art – catch our next blog to find out more.
